Welcome

Welcome to the North Northamptonshire Joint Planning Unit a local partnership of Corby, Wellingborough, Kettering and East Northamptonshire councils together with Northamptonshire County Council who are working together to create an overall plan for North Northamptonshire.

The Joint Planning Unit reports to a Joint Planning Committee made up of three elected members from each of the councils. We work closely with the North Northants Development Company (NNDC), the delivery vehicle set up to manage and drive the growth and regeneration planned for North Northamptonshire.

Sustainable Design Supplementary Planning Document & SHLAA

The Joint Planning Committee on the 31st July agreed to adopt the Sustainable Design SPD. The constituent authorities must extend the remit of the Joint Planning Committee for this resolution to come into effect. This is likely to take several months but applicants for planning permission are advised and encouraged to begin using the Sustainable Design SPD with immediate effect.

The Sustainable Design SPD provides guidance on policies within the North Northamptonshire Core Spatial Strategy that relate to design and sustainability.

The SPD and accompanying Sustainability Appraisal and comments made can be viewed below:

Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA)

To ensure that the SHLAA is as robust as possible to assist its implementation, it has been decided to utilise the best practice landscape character work that has previously informed the Urban Extensions Study as part of the preparation of the CSS.

To allow this work to be carried out, there has been a slight delay in the publication of the SHLAA and it is currently estimated that the final study will be published early in the new year.
